This Acceptable Use Policy ("AUP") sets out what you may and may not do when using services provided by UKNode Ltd (company number 15880458). It forms part of, and should be read with, our Terms & Conditions. By using our services you agree to comply with this AUP, and you are responsible for ensuring your users and customers comply with it too.
1. Prohibited content and activity
You must not use UKNode services to host, transmit, distribute, link to or facilitate any of the following:
- Unlawful content, or content that infringes intellectual-property rights.
- Malware, viruses, exploits, or tools intended to gain unauthorised access to systems.
- Phishing, fraud, identity theft, or deceptive or misleading content.
- Unsolicited bulk or commercial email (spam), or services that support spam operations.
- Child sexual abuse material, content that exploits or endangers minors, or human-trafficking content.
- Hate speech, harassment, threats, or content that incites violence or terrorism.
- Adult content, except on services explicitly designated and approved for it.
- Denial-of-service activity, port scanning, or network probing of third parties without authorisation.
- Unauthorised cryptocurrency mining, and proxy, VPN or anonymisation services run without our written agreement.
2. Email and anti-spam
Outbound mail must comply with applicable anti-spam law, including the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations. You must maintain valid consent or a lawful basis for the email you send, honour unsubscribe requests, and not use false or misleading headers. We may rate-limit or block outbound mail, and may require verification before relaxing default port restrictions, to protect the reputation of our network.
3. Network and resource use
Shared and reseller services are subject to fair-use limits so that one account cannot degrade service for others. CPU, memory, disk I/O, inode counts, concurrent connections and similar resources are subject to the limits published for your package. Resource-intensive workloads unsuitable for a shared environment should run on a VPS or dedicated server. You must not attempt to circumvent published limits or security controls.
4. Customer responsibility
You are responsible for the security of your accounts, software and content, including keeping applications and credentials up to date. If your service is compromised and used to harm others, we may act under this AUP regardless of whether the underlying activity was intentional on your part.
5. Reporting abuse
If you believe a UKNode-hosted service is being used in breach of this AUP, please report it to [email protected] with as much detail as possible (URLs or IP addresses, timestamps with time zone, and relevant logs or headers). We investigate all genuine reports and treat them confidentially where appropriate.
6. Investigation, suspension and termination
We may investigate suspected breaches and, where necessary to protect our network, our customers or third parties, suspend or remove offending content or services. Where it is reasonable and safe to do so we will give notice and an opportunity to remedy the breach; for serious or ongoing breaches — such as illegal content, active attacks, or material harm to our infrastructure — we may suspend or terminate immediately and without notice. Suspension and termination are otherwise governed by our Terms & Conditions, and no refunds are due for services suspended or terminated for breach.
7. Changes to this policy
We may update this AUP to reflect operational, legal or security needs. The current version is always published on this page with the "Last updated" date shown above; continued use of our services after a change constitutes acceptance.
